Education and the future.

Are we stiffling our future by becomming a planet of specialists?

I listened to a podcast recently where James Burke talked about education was invented to make life easier for teachers (i’m paraphrasing) the idea being that it’s easier to ask a question about chemistry and get the answer in terms of chemistry than it is to ask the question and get all the history behind how the chemistry answer came to being and the ramifications of that answer throughout history etc…

I’m not going to go into the theory behind it but James Burke suggests that education should not be pidgeonholed in such a way, everything is connected.
